We are an engaged conversation and discussion group made up of individuals from Hong Kong’s internationally focused community who call the city home and are firmly committed to its future.
Established in 1989 by long term international residents of Hong Kong at a time when the world was concerned about Hong Kong’s prospects up to and immediately after its return to China in 1997. With a successful handover long behind, we focus now on the next stage of Hong Kong’s journey as China’s global city in an ever more complex world.
Members are long-term permanent residents of Hong Kong who are committed to promoting a better understanding of Hong Kong and its future as a Special Administrative Region of China and role as China’s global city. Members represent a variety of professional, educational and ethnic backgrounds and have significant international connections.
Members fund the organisation because they are convinced that thoughtful, respectful dialogue is a contributor to civil society and a way of building knowledge and relationships.
Administered by a Secretariat, the Foundation is overseen by an Executive Director. We have a Board of Directors, comprising a Chairman, Treasurer and several directors. Those who serve as Chairman and who step down continue to serve as a Trustee of the organisation, along with its founding members. See our current Directors and Trustees.
